Yesterday, Jay Z’s mom Gloria Carter came out to the world – in a duet with her son on the record 4:44.
The pro-LGBT song, called “Smile,” offers a frank talk about sexuality — and about the fact that life is too short to hide. It’s the first time Jay-Z or his mother have addressed her sexual preference.

“Mama had four kids, but she’s a lesbian / Had to pretend so long that she’s a thespian,” Jay-Z raps in the song.
