A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was stabbed to death in Birmingham.
The 22-year-old victim was attacked in the Bartley Green area of the city late last night and died hours later in hospital.
The teen remains in custody while he is quizzed by detectives with officers now trawling through CCTV footage.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: 'We were called at 10.43pm to Woodgate Gardens.
'We
were called to reports of a patient who had been attacked. We arrived
on scene and discovered a man in his 20s who had suffered a single stab
wound to his chest.
'The patient was
severely injured as a result and received emergency medical treatment
and was taken to hospital in a critical condition.'
Parts of Birmingham have been plagued by knife crime with one local councillor claiming the city is enduring a 'epidemic'.
Cllr Des Flood, who represents Bartley Green, told the Birmingham Mail:
'I am shocked that another major incident has come to the streets of
Bartley Green, especially so soon after the shootings a number of months
ago.
'Knife crime appears to be an epidemic in the South of our City.'
