Nathaniel Bassey’s Halleluyah Challenge is the greatest thing happening on Nigeria’s Instagram and it has got everyone talking about it as 50,000 population of Nigerians are a part of this challenge even our Nigerian celebrities are not missing in action.
Nathaniel Bassey was born in Lagos, Nigeria. He is from Ikot Ofon Ikono, Uyo local government area in Akwa-Ibom state, South-South Nigeria. His father, Mr E Joshua Bassey, was a minister in The Apostolic Church Bashua Assembly and from an early age he developed a love for both music and the gospel.
The Hallelujah Challenge is a 30-day prayer and praise time from 12am to 1am throughout the month of June 2017 and It is led by the Nigerian gospel artiste himself, Nathaniel Bassey.
It is a live Instagram session where followers tune in to worship God in fellowship. #HallelujahChallenge is currently the most widely circulated praise and worship movement on social media that started as a speculative and inventive way to utilize social media for praising God via music, now it has gradually become a growing movement changing the face of worship. It Started off at less than 5k people participating, now the event has grown rapidly. In 10 days, it racked up an impressive 32,000 participants who logged in for the one-hour session.
Here are some reasons why we think that it is the greatest thing happening to Nigerians as we speak:
1. The Halleluyah Challenge combines two of the most important things to the average Nigerian: Religion and Social Media.
2. The Challenge has grown from a little over 4,000 online worshipers to over 50,000 in less than two weeks.
3. This challenge has basically morphed into a movement; with “Olowogbogboro” worshipers left, right and centre. Olowogbogboro means – “The Broad and Mighty hand of God”.
4. Everyone is tuning in even our celebrities. From D’banj, Don Jazzy, Funke Akindele, Uche Jombo, Kcee and so many other Nigerian Artiste.
5. Nigerians are not minding the data cost at all and they don’t mind staying up that late for ‘on-line praise worship’
